Research has shown that the quality of fly ash produced at power stations are extremely good with respect to fineness, low unburnt carbon and has high pozzolanic activity and conforms to the requirements of IS 3812 - 2003-Pulverized Fuel Ash for use as Pozzolana in cement, cement mortar and concrete. The fly ash generated at NTPC stations is ideal for use in the manufacture of cement, concrete, concrete products, cellular concrete products, bricks/blocks/ tiles etc.

We further monitors the progress in these activities and works for developing Flyash brick units for ash usage. An Ash utilisation Cell will b set up at each station handles ash utilisation activities.
We set up internal units to manufacture fly ash based building products like bricks, blocks, tiles etc which results in saving of fertile top soil. Fly ash based bricks/blocks/tiles are as good as clay based conventional building products. It has substantial potential of fly ash utilization especially for thermal power stations located near load centers.
